Joseph Smith
is a native of Kansas City, Kansas. During the years of his
elementary education one of his teachers recognized his artistic ability.
Continuing his art training, he has received an Associate, Bachelor and
Masters degree in art programs. He has participated in over 100 regional,
national and international juried exhibitions.
Mr. Smith has served as a
panelist on the Missouri and Kansas Art Commissions. Additionally,
Mr. Smith has served as a judge for the NAACP ACT-SO Art competition
and a guest lecturer at high schools and colleges. He is the recipient of
the Presidential Ethic Minority Fellowship at Central Missouri State
University. Mr. Smith's art has been exhibited in many local and national
galleries and shows, such as: The Brookside Arts Festival, Kansas
City, Missouri;The
Museum of Science and Industry,
Chicago, Illinois; The American Jazz Museum, Kansas City, Missouri;
The Hampton University Museum, Hampton Virginia and many more.
