One
might say that art was just in her blood. Yvette Williams has loved art for
as long as anyone can remember. Yvette’s first public art presentation was
at the age of twelve when she won first place at her grade school for
painting a calf for an American Royal contest. This event was a turning
point in the life of the young artist that encouraged her to pursue her
dreams to become an artist.
Yvette
is said to be a self-taught artist but has honed her skills, over the years,
through a multitude of art classes. Always the erudite, she is currently
pursuing her graduate degree in art therapy at Avila University.
Yvette
has exhibited her work in several local galleries in the Mid-Western state
area. Some of the galleries that have proudly shown her work are the
Portfolio Gallery of St. Louis Mo, The Carter Art museum, The Kansas City
Jazz museum, and the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City. Prints of her
artwork are currently on sale at the Jazz Museum’s “Swing Shop” in Kansas
City. Yvette has done commission work for The Minority Contractors
Association, Michael Tombs of Story Tellers, Inc. and a variety of private
clients. She won first and Second place for her body of work at the annual
Arts Festival held in The City Market of Kansas City Missouri and is
currently a member of The Light in the Other Room art association.
