Since the age of 4 years
old, Janine Carter wanted to be an artist. Creating art was an escape from
the world for the young child and any blank wall or piece of paper was her
canvas. Today, Janine Carter brings the world into her artwork as she
presents a multitude of themes that encompass family, heritage, spiritual
matters, and exploration of male and female roles in society. The art
expresses love of life and humanity with a thoughtful, elegant, and
empathetic approach as expressed through a diversity of mediums.
Janine Carter received a
B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1999. This
insightful artist went on to teach art to children in the Nelson-Atkins
Museum of Art Studio Programs and currently coordinates community outreach
programs for youth and families at the museum. She has participated in
several local art exhibits which include exhibits at the Jazz Museum, the
Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, 18th Street Studio,
and Central Missouri State University.
Mrs. Carter is an artist
who defines her own paths. The subject matter is carefully thought out and
is as much about the materials as it is about the subject. Many times, an
idea for a painting, print, or a mixed media work is inspired by the
materials as much it is by the subject. Janine generally prefers working in
mixed media on a small format. Owning a Carter original or print is a
special addition to anyone’s art collection.
